Parent's Guide

Farming Simulator 2015 is a farming game on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Unlike most games with a farming theme, though, this is a much more realistic take on the farming experience, letting you live the life of a farmer, as you tend to your crops, raise your animals, and sell your produce.

With nothing in the way of a story or any real objectives, Farming Sim is a sandbox game, where you're free to do what you please, as you strive to keep your farm ticking over and turn a profit. Starting out with just two fields, a handful of tractors, and a few tools to plough and sow the fields, turning a profit is easier said than done, but it's nothing a bit of hard work can't achieve. Driving the tractors and using the tools yourself, it's a pretty complex game to get your head around, but there is an extensive selection of tutorials to help you find your way. The more money you make, the more fields you'll be able to buy, with bigger and better tractors, and all manner of farm vehicles on offer to make your life easier. From animal feeders to hay balers, combine harvesters and - a new feature for this game - forestry vehicles, there's plenty to work your way towards. Parents will also be reassured to know that there's no option to send your animals to the slaughter - instead, you can only take eggs, milk and wool from them.

However, in terms of accessibility, Farming Sim 15 has a pretty steep learning curve, and one that younger children may find tricky. While the series of tutorials helps, there's nothing in the way of prompts about what you should be doing next when you're actually playing the game, which makes things a little bit tricky for younger players, as there's often a very particular series of things you have to do to start ploughing the field, or sell your crops. One best left for the older players.

Mature Content

With nothing in the way of bad language, sex or violence, there's nothing in the way of mature content in Farming Sim 2016. As you can't even send your animals to the slaughter, there's very little to worry about here indeed.
