Pretty easy to pick up and play, your main objective here is to rotate various sections of chain in order to make a link of three or more, at which point it'll explode, rewarding you with points. The longer the chain you make, the more points you'll receive, with chunky, circular chains letting you change your chain's direction, and rainbow segments letting you tie two chains of different colours together, leaving plenty of room for point based exploration. With four modes on offer (the standard story mode, an against-the-clock Arcade mode, a survival Strategy mode, and a mind bending puzzle mode), there's a surprising amount of variety here for a match three game, too.
With a fairly simple concept, Chainz Galaxy should be well received by younger puzzle/match three fans, especially if they're into similar games, like Bejewelled, or on the DS, games like Jewel Link, and Jewel Quest. One of the only things that may catch younger players out is the somewhat odd "shuffle" system. Should you not be able to see any moves to perform, you can choose to simply press a button and shuffle the grid, although doing so will use a life. The thing that's less obvious is that when you run out of moves, and the game has no choice but to shuffle the grid for you, it'll also take a life off you. The game doesn't exactly make this clear, and in our experience, children can be a bit confused as to why they keep running out of lives, getting a game over, and having to go back to the start of the set of seven or eight levels. Potentially one to explain to your child before they start playing.
