Since its official announcement at the recent gaming convention, E3, many people have been getting excited about the upcoming shooter, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. An Xbox 360 remake of the game that brought first person shooters to a console, popularised co-op play, and kicked off the epic story which saw humanity, led by Master Chief, defending themselves against an alien race of marauding religious maniacs, known as the Covenant, in a race to uncover the secrets of a Halo-shaped planet, Halo: Combat Evolved is already set to bring with it a number of improvements, including the ability to switch between old and new graphics at the touch of a button - but today, the lid's been lifted on another new feature. Sort of.

Talking with Gamespot in the wake of E3, Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft Games Studios let slip that Halo Anniversary will be featuring support for Kinect.

"[The] core focus for us in our press briefing this year with Kinect actually came from two sides," he said. "As a first-party, we believe Kinect will be important to all genres of games, be it racing games with Forza, combat games like Ryse, even games like Halo Anniversary has [sic] Kinect integration."

Blowing things up in a sci-fi thriller - with Kinect?

While there's no word on quite how Kinect's going to fit in with the game yet, we're imagining it'll be something along the lines of voice controls, or a gesture controlled menu. Of course, there's every chance Microsoft may go for something a little more spectacular, and try and create a control scheme that allows you play Halo using just Kinect, but, as it's a first person shooter, that would be a technical challenge, to say the least.

Either way, we're bound to find out more over the next few months, as we barrel towards Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's November 15th launch. We're looking forward to it. You should be too.
