Parent's Guide

Kinect Sesame Street Season Two is the latest in Microsoft's line of interactive "Two Way TV" shows. Available as either individual episodes for 400 points (~£3.40 each), or as a 2400 point Season Pass (~£20) that allows you access to all eight episodes, Sesame Street TV Season Two brings all your child's favourite characters to your Xbox in an interactive show that your child can be a part of.

Following a similar format to the TV show itself, each episode is split into a number of sections that teach your child about a different thing, and asks them to interact in a number of different ways. Whether it's transporting them into Elmo's world (using the camera, it'll literally place them in the picture), asking them to sing along with "The Wheels on the Bus", or shout out when they see a certain object, it's all straightforward stuff, which is perfect for the game's target audience. As you may expect from a Sesame Street game, there's also a strong focus on education here, whether it's covering letters, numbers, shapes, emotions, or, somewhat oddly, Spanish words.

But while the game does ask your child to interact at certain points, there's no punishment for failing to do something, or for getting something wrong, as the game will simply carry on to the next segment regardless. There's nothing said to make your child feel like they've failed, but instead, a few gentle words of encouragement for next time. It also means that if your child would prefer to just sit and watch the show unfold instead, they easily can - it's entirely up to them.

However, it's important to keep in mind that Kinect has a minimum height requirement that may throw a spanner in the works for younger Sesame Street fans. Officially, this height is 3' 3", but a lot depends on the height you have your camera fixed at. If you already own a Kinect sensor, and your child can play other Kinect games, you should be fine here - but if you've yet to pick one up, we'd certainly keep the minimum height requirement in mind.

Mature Content

Based on the Sesame Street TV show, there's nothing at all for parents to be concerned about here.
