May's Mysteries: The Secret of Dragonville announced

Looks like an (awesome) cross between Professor Layton and a hidden object game

We're big fans of Professor Layton here at Everybody Plays - the titular Professor's near-perfect mix of story and brain-bending puzzles only being spoilt by the fact there's not many games like it. Once you run out of Layton, that tends to be it for the next year or two, while we wait for the games to slowly make the transition over from Japan. Luckily for us, several games companies have spotted a gap in the market, and are looking to fill it with their own puzzling games - first there was Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Nights for the 3DS, and now there's May's Mysteries: The Secret of Dragonville. And it's looking rather nice indeed.

Even the puzzles seem like the sort of thing that would be at home in a Professor Layton game...

About all we know about the game so far, is that the story begins when May sets off on a quest to find her missing brother. Along the way she'll travel through 8 different locations and chat to some 50 people, whilst solving all manner of logic-based puzzles in a similar way to the Professor Layton games. Boasting a whopping 230 puzzles, 25 hidden object stages and 13 musical rhythm action mini-games, this is a game that'll keep you busy for a while - and that's before you take into account the 25 hour long story. In fact, that makes it quite a bit larger than the next Professor Layton game, Professor Layton and the Last Specter, which only has 170 puzzles - unless you take into account the 100 hour role-playing game you unlock...

May's Mysteries: The Secret of Dragonville is due out this August - hopefully we'll have more information on the game before then, so make sure you keep checking back. Until then, here's a trailer to whet your appetite a bit:
