The Witch and the Hundred Knight: Revival Edition coming to the Playstation 4

Foul-mouthed witch spreads her swamp onto the next generation

The Witch and the Hundred Knight Revival Edition coming to the Playstation 4

Games are all well and good, but don't you think they can be a little… samey sometimes? The amount of times some bad guys have inadvertently released some ancient evil in their quest for world domination, and, by some crazy coincidence, we just happen to be the only person in the entire world capable of diverting the disaster? Sure, different things happen in the interim, but the vast majority of game stories can be summed up in much the same way. But what if you turned things on their head, and you were the bad guy instead, trying to take over the world? Well, that's just what the titular witch Metallia, of The Witch and the Hundred Knight spends her years trying to do - and now she can do it all over again, with a remastered edition of the game coming to the Playstation 4 next March.

Originally released on the Playstation 3 last year, The Witch and the Hundred Knight told the tale of the exiled witch Metallia, who'd been banished to a toxic swamp on the outskirts of a forest. Unable to leave her swamp, she's been getting herself into trouble with her neighbours instead, and has been locked in a war with the forest witch for a century. Using her power, she creates herself a minion, the Hundred Knight, and sends him off to do her bidding, releasing the various 'pillars' that keep Metallia's swampy territory under control. By destroying the pillars, Metallia's swamp can grow and she can finally realise her dream of being the land's most powerful witch overlord - and get revenge on all those other goody two shoes witches in the process.

Home sweet home!

Essentially a dungeon crawler, it's up to you to explore labyrinth-like levels as the Hundred Knight, a deceptively diminutive creature who can pack quite a punch with the five weapons he can wield at once. By hacking your way from one end of the dungeon to the other, you unlock new pillars for Metallia, and further the dark and twisted tale of revenge, manipulating and torturing many an innocent bystander along the way. With the attitude of a particularly angry spoilt teen who's just discovered swear words, The Witch and the Hundred Knight did a great job in creating a protagonist you love to hate.

Aside from some swisher swamp textures, the updated 'Revival Edition' of The Witch and the Hundred Knight brings with it a brand-spanking new area to explore. The 'Tower of Illusion', as it's called, lets you take on new foes in battle by sacrificing some of your favourite weapons - the stronger the weapon you offer, the stronger the enemies you face will be, but the better the rewards will be, letting you nab yourself some seriously powerful loot. But that's not all the tower has on offer, as if you manage to collect enough Concentrated Mana inside, you'll be able to summon and play as Metallia for the first time ever, as well as collecting new 'catalyst' items to alchemise your weapons into even more powerful ones, increasing their attack, defence and more to create your ultimate gear.

The Witch and the Hundred Knight: Revival Edition will be hitting Playstation 4's everywhere this March, landing in the US on the 1st and the UK on the 4th. Why not check out the trailer below:
