The cheapest places to buy a 3DS are...

With the new price drop, the price wars begin again...

Platform: Nintendo 3DS
With Nintendo dropping the price it sells the 3DS console to retailers at by a third from tomorrow, many retailers have started announcing the prices they're planning to sell the newly discounted console at. It was only a few weeks ago that we were speculating that the price could go as low as just £115 – and it looks like we weren't far wrong.

The cheapest 3DS' (at the time of writing)

4. Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's currently hold the highest price point, having announced a price of £139.99, down from it's already extortionate price of £205.99. Still, it's a nice start - but not as good as everyone else.

3. Gamestop
Relatively new to the UK scene, online retailers GameStop have announced they'll be dropping the price of the 3DS by £20, from it's current price of £154.97 to £134.97.

2. Morrison's
You can always trust the supermarkets to take it lower. Chopping a whopping £15 off the price Gamestop are asking, Morrison's will be selling the console for only £120 as of tomorrow - which is less than the DSi XL goes for in some places. In addition, all 3DS games will be priced at £25 (although this is likely a temporary drop). You can't help wondering just how much lower can it go?

Get ready for a monster price drop!

1. Tesco!
Seemingly, lower still. UK supermarket mega-corporation Tesco have announced that, as of tomorrow, it'll be selling the console at a bargain-basement price of just £115! You can't help wondering if Tesco will be making a loss on each console sold with such a low price - although they can probably afford to sell the console for that much, seeing as they're still flogging the 3DS games for £34.90 in our local one, despite half of them now being available online for under £20. There's also a mystery online retailer that's refused to announce it's price, in case it gets pipped to the post by Tesco and the like – so we may even be seeing as sub-£115 3DS soon - we'll update this story as soon as we get word.

So for those of you that haven't taken the 3DS plunge, there's no excuses now! And we thought we got a bargain at £157 in a mega Bank Holiday sale at PC World/Curry's – which was about £10 to £20 cheaper than everywhere else at the time. In the meantime, we'll keep our eyes peeled for any more deals – while enjoying our twenty free 3DS games.
